Mimizan festivals

The whole city of Mimizan will be jubilant from Tuesday August 20 to Sunday August 25, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. For what occasion ? For the Mimizan celebrations, of course! Friendliness and good humor will certainly be there. Here is an overview of the program immediately if you are staying at the Mimizan Lac campsite or at the Mimizan Plage campsite during this period.

Colorful parties

Each year, the Mimizan celebrations have an attractive program comprising a variety of activities to have fun like never before. They traditionally start with a Landes race, followed by a musical performance. The next day, the Queen of the Holidays is elected and to console the losers, several runners-up are chosen.

The following days, the rhythm of the holidays accelerates. Basque pétanque and pelota competitions are in full swing, shows and concerts are played to listen to music in a lively atmosphere. The keys to the city are handed over to the 20th anniversary, followed by an aperitif in a festive spirit. A majorette show follows. The bodegas open their doors for feverish and joyful moments in order to extend the evening in style.

Festivities for everyone

Children are not left out. A day is dedicated to them with the program: pony rides, archery, fairground games and a big cavalcade in the streets of Mimizan. Friendly sports matches are played, accompanied by coarse fishing competitions by boat. Rampeau competition, street shows, brass bands and concerts punctuate the Mimizan festivals throughout the week. The great cavalcade in the streets of the city center ends the penultimate day of the holidays.

As for tastings, we are no exception to tradition with tripe and veal heads. For the less adventurous, oysters, cold meats, tapas are enough to delight the taste buds and stomachs.

The height of Mimizan’s celebrations is Sunday. Aficionados can attend the bullfighting shows in the big bullfight at the Mimizan arenas. After a musette ball and concerts, everyone can attend a mass accompanied by music, before a magnificent fireworks display is drawn to the rhythm of the music.

The program for the 2019 Mimizan holiday edition

During this beautiful festive period, throughout the day, many activities for the whole family will follow.

Traditional sports with races on stilts, arena games in the arenas of the municipal stadium, games for children, including a scooter race.

The evenings also promise to be feverish. Covered shows, concerts, cavalcades, bodegas, balls … The celebrations will end in apotheosis with the final bouquet: the fireworks.
