marché gironde

Cadillac and its medieval market

In the south-east of Bordeaux, on the banks of the Garonne, the famous Cadillac market is held every Saturday. This country house has the natural setting and the cultural heritage which have something to retain the visitor. Its market? An open-air restaurant where stalls, colors and scents follow one another. Oysters from Marennes, macaroons, brioches, cannelés, cheeses and fish: fill your basket and above all, enjoy the fortifications of the village.

Bazas market, at the gates of the Landes de Gascogne regional natural park

It has been almost a millennium since the Bazas market was born. Every morning, the Cathedral Square comes alive with the arrival of producers who set up their stands to offer their products to locals and passing visitors. Our favorite ? A cheese from the Pyrenees or the Basque Country accompanied by a Bordeaux wine, a perfect pairing to awaken your taste buds. Bazadaise-bred beef, cold meats, fresh fruits and vegetables are also in the spotlight at Bazas.

Pellegrue market, a medieval tradition

The village of Pellegrue between Libourne and Marmande, usually peaceful, comes out of its apparent lethargy every Wednesday at its market which is held under the covered market, a metal structure inspired by the works of Gustave Eiffel. Take advantage of your visit to get lost in the alleys of this beautiful country house.

Lormont, the charm of a small market

You don’t have to attract thousands of visitors to be remarkable. The Lormont market is located under the Aquitaine bridge on the banks of the Garonne, north-east of Bordeaux, every Saturday. You will meet less than 20 producers but their products are delicious and diverse. Cold cuts, Bazadaise beef, fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish: it’s up to you to fill your basket wisely. And to celebrate your finds, take the time to drink a craft beer or a glass of Bordeaux!

La Teste, one of the largest markets in Gironde

It takes place in the covered hall every day of the week, except Monday. On Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the Teste-de-Buch market becomes the largest market in Gironde. Have you found your happiness? Go for an improvised picnic in Cap Ferret, on the dune of Pilat, in the Landes forest or on the shores of Cazaux and Sanguinet lakes.

Christmas market in Bordeaux

If you are visiting the Gironde during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, consider including the Bordeaux Christmas market in Allées Turny in your program of activities. Some 350,000 visitors were expected there in 2018, with the trifle of 150 exhibitors and dozens of artisans present every day in December. The market is brightened up with games, workshops and many other activities.
